Sun., May 5, 2013 - Cinco de Mayo

Today was HOT.  Literally!  Hottest day Travis can remember in the 4 years he has been at Cape Lookout.  When we cleaned the Yurts which were not in the shade of trees, they were like an oven.  We were assigned 7 yurts - that is a record for us.  Sunday, and the park was really busy yesterday, so it was reasonable that many would move out.  The park actually opened up the A Loop which had been closed to campers for the winter and lots of people came from inland to enjoy the weather.
The view from our site: C-55 looking toward the ocean.  We sat in the shade for quite a while to enjoy it after cleaning the yurts.
Then we made the 11 mile trek in to Tillamook for happy hour.  We've been here once before for lunch, but today sat in the bar and got to watch half the Giants game on TV.  We also met another couple,  Diane and Eric who just sold their house, but instead of RV'ing, bought a business - a breakfast and lunch café down Highway 101 a short distance.  Fun to talk to them - they are major travelers, too, recently lived in Alaska.
and dinner at the only Mexican restaurant in town.

On the way home, we stopped along the road beside Netart's Bay to watch the tide come in, and saw the fog come in as well over Cape Lookout.  The state park is at the low point beneath the fog.  The fog stayed over the water, though.
and worked its way up along the shore to the end of the spit where we walked yesterday.
