Thurs. June 5, 2014 - Litchfield Illinois - Portage, Indiana 235 Miles

Today was a travel day.  First step - pack to drive.  today we had to say goodbye to something old and something relatively new that was broken and taking up space.
Very sad to see Li'l Oscar go - we've had that since our early years together, but the handle finally gave out in a careless moment.  Same for the chair, but that was new in November.

We drove north on Route 66, leaving the corn, soy and wheat fields of rural Illinois.  It was hard to drive by Springfield and not stop to check out Lincoln's birthplace.  This in not a museum trip and I don't think the Lincoln Presidential Library is a place for us to work:)

We entered the populated Chicago outskirts and ended up in Portage, Indiana for a layover in the Walmart parking lot.

We went searching for the Farmers market we found advertised on Google - Thursday from 3-6PM, but did not locate it, so went instead to the Portage Public Library
for an hour of computer time before dinner and another attempt at a red box movie - we are off to a challenging start with tonight's issue - the red box was behind locked doors after 9:00PM.  So we ate our last leftovers and got a good night's sleep.
