Sat. May 31, 2014 - Kansas City - Columbia MO 110 miles

We had a leisurly morning packing up and going for a walk through the park.  This part of MO reminds me a lot of Michigan - rolling hills, plenty of trees and humid.
We left just before 11:AM CST and drove the 120 miles east along I-70 to Columbia MO.  We are staying at another Harvest Host farm tonight, but decided to spend the day in town to work.  We found a really modern library
complete with a private study room - just needed to show a picture ID.
We left at 4:30 to make a timely arrival at our next Harvest Host overnight spot - not as easy or centrally located as a Walmart parking lot, but very pleasant.
Tonight's stop was about 7 miles northeast of Columbia at Walk-About Acres Farm.
We parked at the top of their property next to the multi-purpose outbuilding

where we sat outside until dark because it was still too hot and humid to go inside.
We chatted a while with Art and learned about his bee-keeping and animal raising operation which he and his wife Vera are now retired from.
We saw peacocks, heard donkeys and enjoyed the farm-life
and approaching weather for an evening.
Dinner was after dark outside to enjoy the cool air -  pesto pasta from our basil plant - Yum!

    1. Private study rooms - not everywhere, but yes in Carlsbad, and yes here today in Portage IN 6/5/14. Here they didn't even make us sign in.
