Sat., Aug 31, 2013 - Bandon to Newport

This morning we took a hike to the beach along a 3/4 mile marked trail
and wasted no time getting our toes in the sand during THIS trip.
When we got back to our site to pack and leave, low and behold, who should we see, but Else Ireland, one of the camp hosts we got to visit with several times while at Honeyman in July.  She and her husband are former Marin County residents, but now are full-timers who work the Oregon parks during the summer months and go to Arizona for a break in the winter
They are the ones who recommended Bullards Beach in the first place, so it was really cool to see Else here just 4 weeks later.  She was walking by because they were waiting to move into the spot we are leaving this morning.

We went in to Bandon to check it out and found a farmers market ( food for tomorrow) and a tasty bowl of clam chowder ( food for lunch today).  then we headed off north to Newport.  We stopped in Florence ( home of Honeyman) at familiar Krab Kettle and Fred Meyers for more supplies, then arrived at South beach State park at dusk.
