Aug 27-29: Sutherlin

8/27:     We pulled into Sutherlin, OR at lunch time, so found a place to park on the  main road through town and had lunch at The Office Bar and Grill, before checking in to Timber Valley SKP Park.  We had a visit from Sandy, the Welcome Wagon while we were enjoying the Giants game in the shade outside in the afternoon.

On Saturday, Aug 27 we finally made it to our original destination - Sutherlin OR where the first order of business was lunch at "The Office" bar and grill in town.
Then to Timber Valley RV Resort
where we wanted to check out another SKP Co-op membership park.  This park was very nice, too, like Jojoba Hills near Temecula,  but did not have a swimming pool, so not really a good option for one who likes to swim for exercise.  We did have a nice three night visit though.

8/28:  We followed the wine trail map we received from Sandy the welcome wagon resident yesterday to Oakland, first where we had lunch at Tolly's.  Then we went to MarshAnne Winery a short drive away where we had a fun conversation with the winemaker and bought a case of wine.  Back at the park, we attended the Suunday afternoon ice cream social in the clubhouse.  Then back to our site to listen to the Giants game and give half of the buggy a spit bath

On Monday we drove the 10 miles into Roseburg for re-supply.  On the way we stsopped at Oregon Community College where Mike took a walker walk a short istance around the campus buildings.

Aug 23-26 Slow road north to Oregon

Burney Falls
Lost Lake

We decided to take the scenic road so made it all the way to Roseburg, OR over the next four days withoout getting on I-5 for more than 5 miles.
First stop was Burney Falls State Park in northern California
We hit I-5 for five short miles near Mouth Shasta where we found a nice pull-over spot for lunch on our way to the Klamath Lake area of Oregon.
We stayed a a nice National Forest campground at Lake of the Woods near Klamath Falls.
After sixed night with no electricity, and being out of practice dry camping, we ran our batteries too low to pull in the slides, so we enlisted the help Art, some random guy who was cam ping nearby and VERY helpful getting us back on the road with advice of where to go for service.
After a short no-pay visit to an RV service shop we were on the road again and drove a short distance to Joseph W Smith State Park on a Rouge River reservoir
where we had a nice electric hook-up site and enjoyed a beautiful sunset
over the lake through the trees.
I enjoyed a nice three mile walk to the lake in the morning before we moved on a short distance

to Rouge Elk Camground  -
a Jackson county park right on the Rouge River.
where we had a peaceful afternoon picnic and river sit.

Aug 19-22: Lake Almanor with Graydons vacation

When it was FINALLY time for a real road trip, we started off slow and fun with Dollie and Richard Graydon at a really nice PG&E rustic campground at the south end of Lake Almanor.
Four nights there was very relaxing and felt like a real vacation.

Richard brought toys so I got to take a couple really nice bike rides and one kayak accompanied swim in the lake over the 4 day period.  We also had some good conversation during our shared dinners, Dollie and Mike both got to stretch their legs and walk a bit in a beautiful setting.
On the 23rd the graydons headed back south to Auburn and we kept on going north......

Aug 6-19: Martis Creek Lake

On SUnday, Aug 7 we moved to Truckee to stay for a while at Martis Creek Lake US Army Corp of Engineers campgrund where we have camp hosted for the last two summers.  We had a camp host pot-luck barBQ the first night, then a few visitors.  Laurie Sayre came for the afternoon on Aug 13.

Eric and Clau came for dinner several times since he is working at the Tahoe National Forest Truckee office and is really close.  Kelly and Jim came to visist on the 17th and we had a mini-party with Eric, Clau and Ranger Jacqui.  Too bad I didn;t take more pictures.

July 24-Aug 6 Auburn visit

We arrived in Auburn on Sunday evening, July 24 at the beginning of a heat wave.  We parked the motorhome at the top of the hill at Jenny and Pat Redmond's house, and laid pretty low for the week except for a trip in to San Francisco to pick up Eric and Claudia who were flying in from Cancun to work and play in northern CA for the rest of the summer and fall.

First we attended an SF Giants baseball day game at AT&T park
Then checked in to the SFO Marriott to await the kids arrival.  Next day we took a driving tour of the coastline of San Francisco from AT&T Park
along the Marina Green and Crissy Field,
and out to Fort Point and the Golden Gate Bridge
 - the whole trip covered our favorite stomping grounds in the city.

We returned to Auburn for two more nights at Jenny's house then moved to Gold Country RV for a week.  We did local errands, had a family dinner at Connie's house and visited with friends.  Mike was having increasing trouble with his balance during this period and I was distracted, so did not take enough pictures to fully capture the fun time we had with family and friends while we were in town.

June 25-July 5: Jojoba Hills SKP park

On July 25 we left Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails and moved to Jojoba Hills SKP Park in the semi desert ourside of Temecula.  They are a 55+ RV community that allows members to buy in to a specific lot for a permanant place to stay when thay are not traveling.  It was very nice - a fitness center, activites for members and a very nice pool that I swam in almost every day while we were there.  The view after the swim was great!
While we were therm nephew Jimmy and Monique can to visit for an afternoon

during a heat wave
The park felt like it COULD be an option for us - including a place for me to hang the laundry:)

June 3-June 24: Wilderness Lakes

After we checked out of South Carlsbad, we parked at south Ponto for the day to enjoy the cool air and do some last minute errands in town before we left the area to go inland for a few weeks.  I used our new ladder to get the sea grime off the windshield before we drove.
We drove about an hour inland to Temecula are where we checked in
to Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails resort

May 24-June 2: Home from Mexico SCSB comp week

When we returned from Mexico on May 24, we stayed with Roger and Jeannie for two nights until it was tiime for us to check in to the first of two complimentary weeks of camping at South Carlsbad State Beach.

We enjoyed our spot and relaxing at home at the beach,
and enjoyed our memories of a terrific vacation by trying to duplicate some of the culinary lessons we learned whle in Mexico.....  fruta and granola for desayuno
and tortillas, queso, avocado and salsa for almuerzo.
We hosted Roger and Jeannie for an afternoon visit
and generally took it eaasy for a few days.
